Manos De Plata began as an unnamed solo project of
David Lutz, who spent his evenings writing and recording songs in his
studio apartment, never imagining his labor of love would see daylight.
After meeting guitarist/trumpet player Jake Weller in 2006, the two
began to add the extra instrumentation to what would eventually become
a recorded demo for Manos De Plata. With this demo, the two were able
to recruit more like-minded musicians and veterans of the Seattle music
scene: Beau Fredericks (guitar/vocals), Darren Johnson (drums), Brian
Trull (keys) and eventually, after some quick rotation, Matthew
Schumacher (trumpet/ vocals/Swiss Army knife). Manos De Plata played
their first live show in Seattle in April of 2008 and has been avidly
playing out ever since.
