Just because the leaves are turning…

…that’s no excuse not to rock.

Diving high in Fremont. Which is probably the only sort of diving in Fremont.

We always have a great time playing with the excellent Ghost Lobby, and we’re super excited to share a bill with Half Light, about whom we’ve heard great things.

This is all a bunch of good news, and we’ll top it off with another new song.  What does it sound like, you ask?

You’ll just have to come to the show and hear it for yourself.

Media friendliness.

It’s been pointed out to us that Hannah Levin (in her writerly capacity over at the Seattle Weekly) wrote a nice little preview about us prior to our show last Friday, and we wanted to pass it along!

Here’s an excerpt (okay, okay… most of the post) for ya:
“Tonight, it’s a promising 6-piece collective called Manos de Plata whose sound weaves chamber pop with subtle, psych-tinged threads and occasionally descends into full-tilt, Radiohead-channeling rock. “
– Hannah Levin, Seattle Weekly

Hooray for us, and many thanks to Hannah for her kind words. The show was great (and packed), and it seems like folks can’t get enough of the new material we’ve been slangin’. We can’t wait for the next show!

P.S.: 10/15 at the High Dive!

Our first ever show review (with video!)!

Our CD release party last month was a great success, and now we have an extra opinion on the matter!  Nikki over at Seattle Show Gal came out to the show, and had some nice things to say about us.  She even videotaped the show, and a couple of the songs that we played are available for viewing below (as well as on her blog).

Finally, as Nikki says in the conclusion of her show recap, “All and all, Manos De Plata is a fresh sea breeze in the Seattle music scene. They are currently a well kept secret, but not for long. Be sure to catch to catch a show the next time they are play at a venue near you!”

High Dive – August 1st!

A brand new poster for our upcoming show at the High Dive with our good friends Osaka Explosion. Ian from OE made this one, and we think it’s awesome!

The High Dive is a great place to see a show, and it’s worth mentioning that they have air conditioning. See you there!

Dwarfed by the vast expanse of the open ocean…

Filed under: Uncategorized — Tags: — admin @ 2:38 pm

…But still the biggest animal that has ever lived on our planet.

Manos De Plata. 30 meters long, and weighing over 200 tons. It’s far bigger than even the biggest dinosaur. Its tongue weighs as much as an elephant, its heart is the size of a car, and some of its blood vessels are so wide that you could swim down them. Its tail alone is the width of a small aircraft’s wings. Its streamlining, close to perfection, enables it to cruise at 20 knots – it’s one of the fastest animals in the sea.
Despite the enormous size of Manos De Plata, we know very little about them. Their migration routes are still a mystery, and we have absolutely no idea where they go to breed. They are a dramatic reminder of how much we still have to learn about the ocean and the creatures that live there.
Don’t miss this opportunity to see one of the grandest creatures of the depths, about which science still knows so little. A truly epic experience.
